Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop a Korean version of a Life balance Inventory (K-LBI) for measuring occupational balance.

Methods: A translation and back translation of the LBI were first conducted, and the back translated and original versions were compared to each other by the original author. Reports from 13 occupational therapists were collected to investigate the content validity of 53 items in the K-LBI. An Item-level Content Validity Index (I-CVI) and Cronbach's alpha were calculated to verify the validity and reliability of the K-LBI. The correlation coefficient and intra-class correlation coefficient were used to verify the convergent validity and test-retest reliability.

Results: The average value of the I-CVI for 53 items was 0.79. A questionnaire survey was executed for 165 community residents including adults and older adults. The coefficients were .356 (p=.01) and .490 (p=.01) based on a correlation analysis between the total average of the K-LBI and the Korean version of the WHOQOL-BREF, and the mental component score of SF12v2. Cronbach¡¯s alpha was .875 and .831 based on the results of older adults and adults.

Conclusion: The K-LBI was verified as an occupational balance measurement with validity and reliability. It is possible to use the K-LBI for people suffering from a low quality of life resulting from an occupational unbalance to adjust their daily routine for a more balanced life.
